Bay posts images of Optimus Prime, Autobots with shooting starting in Monument Valley

With shooting starting in New Mexico on “Transformers 4,” Michael Bay has revealed the new designs for the Optimus Prime truck and two of the Autobots.

“Principal photography on Transformers 4 has begun,” Bay said on his blog.  “As guests of the Navajo Nation, we took a convoy of brand new, re-envisioned and remodeled Autobots out for a spin down Highway 163 in Monument Valley near the border. Stay tuned…more to come!”

Bay said the upgraded, custom-built Optimus Prime is from Western Star (a subsidiary of Daimler Trucks North America) while the Autobots are a 1,200-horsepower Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse worth more than $2.4 million and a race-inspired C7 Corvette Stingray, based on Chevrolet’s upcoming 2014 production car.

“Transformers 4” stars Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Nicola Peltz, Sophia Myles and Li Bingbing. Paramount has set a June 27, 2014 release date.
